He has done many things in his long life, from jackaroo to WW 2 fighter ace then aviation pioneer, coffee planter and hotelier in Papua New Guinea. After "retiring" he sailed his catamaran Billabong solo from Egypt to Singapore, built and flew his own light aircraft, wrote and published his autobiography and has now been awarded the OAM for services to aviation and tourism in the 2004 Honours list |
